It’s taken me five days to figure out how to post this magical day. For 37 years, my family has gathered to celebrate Christmas Eve – we have our family dinner, gather together, open our gifts and enjoy each other’s company. Christmas Eve has always been at my parents’ house without exception.
2020 had its own plans… of course.
This year, I made my very first Christmas Eve dinner at home. This year we opened our gifts at home. This year we drank sparkling apple juice out of our wedding crystal. This year we texted our gratitude for generous gifts.
It was a magical, low pressure evening. We enjoyed each other and the Christmas spirit. We missed our family, we missed our usual traditions, but made the most of our one of a kind Christmas.
I hope that your holidays were special, even if they were different than usual. I hope that you were able to enjoy some comfort from the traditions however they may have changed.
Merry Christmas 2020. It was unique, but over here, it was also special.
