✨ Review: Notes to John by Joan Didion ✨
Even the smallest fragments of Joan Didion’s writing feel like gifts. Notes to John is tender, sharp, and achingly intimate—proof that her spare, intelligent prose could make even grief shimmer with clarity.
Listening to this felt like being allowed into her private thoughts, her pauses, her silences. There’s something profoundly moving about reading (or hearing) the “scraps” she left behind—evidence of a mind always observing, always distilling life into something precise and true.
If you love Didion, you’ll find beauty in every unfinished line here. 💭

🧡 Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
This is not just a day of reflection—it’s a day of reckoning.
The legacy of residential schools is not distant history. I was 13 years old when the last residential school in Canada closed its doors. That is not the past—it is the present. Survivors are still with us, still carrying the trauma, and families are still grieving the children who never came home.
Canadians should feel shame at the systemic racism, colonial violence, and deliberate cultural genocide that allowed this horror to continue for generations. This is not something that happened “a long time ago.” It is woven into our collective story, and it is on all of us to acknowledge it.
The Survivors’ Flag (shared here, not my artwork) was created to honour all Survivors, their families, and the memory of the children who never returned. It is a living reminder of the resilience and strength of Indigenous communities, even in the face of unimaginable harm.
Reconciliation isn’t about wearing orange one day a year. It’s about listening to Survivors, amplifying Indigenous voices, supporting Indigenous-led organizations, educating ourselves, and taking action against ongoing systemic racism and inequity.
Every child matters. Every single one. 🧡

First day of school ❤️✨ Grade 10 and Grade 12. Somehow my babies are nearly grown, and this might be the last first day photo at our front door. Next year, Ollie has plans to head off to university, and while my heart is so proud, it’s also aching a little. These little traditions sneak up on you—one day you’re tying their shoes, and the next, you’re snapping a picture before they step into the world on their own. Holding this moment close. 🥹📚

I had always heard how “scary” pit bulls are… 😱 Fierce, intimidating, dangerous…
And then I met Tika. 💕
This vicious beast likes to… fall asleep across my lap, snore like a chainsaw, and insist on maximum cuddle time. 🐾
Turns out the only thing I need to fear is not being able to move my leg ever again. 😂

All the Taylor Swift vibes, all the love, all the Enchanted feels 💍✨
This weekend, my beautiful friend Sonja began her Lover era—marrying her beloved Chris in a celebration that was pure magic from beginning to end. From the first look to the last dance, the day sparkled with joy, emotion, and so much love. I feel so lucky to have witnessed the beginning of their forever. ❤️

Celebrated @alysonorr’s fabulous 40th at the Rosé Disco in Vancouver and it was a whole vibe! 💕🍷
We sipped our way through the Rosé spectrum—from divine to… questionable 😂—and danced our hearts out to DJ after DJ, ending the night with an epic set by Felix Cartal. 💃🎶 Sunshine, sparkles, food truck munchies, and the best company made it a birthday to remember. Cheers to 40, Alyson—you make it look so good! 🥂🌸✨

I just devoured this book in a day and a half—it completely captivated me from start to finish. Part true crime, part deeply personal memoir, this story gets to the heart of what shaped Kelsey Grammer into the person he is today.
It’s raw, real, and unflinchingly honest. Grammer doesn’t shy away from his family’s pain, and through his reflections you feel the lasting impact of tragedy, love, and resilience.
Fair warning—there’s a noticeable thread of Christianity woven through the book, and some of his views leaned more conservative than my own. But that didn’t take away from the power of his story. I came away with a deep respect for his vulnerability and for his choice to honour his sister Karen in this way.
If you enjoy memoirs with depth, true crime with heart, or stories of survival and healing—this one is worth your time. 💔✨

Making all the fruit platters in my vintage Tupperware because apparently fruit disappears faster when it’s in this container 😂
Watermelon? Gone. Grapes? Vanished. Oranges? Don’t stand a chance.
Honestly, it’s like magic—put it in the tray and suddenly everyone wants fruit.

10 years ago, I got my first tattoo: a butterfly semicolon. ✨🦋
At the time, I was holding space for healing, transformation, and the reminder that my story wasn’t over—even when it felt like it might be. The semicolon became a quiet promise to myself: pause, breathe, keep going. And the butterfly? A symbol of change, freedom, and resilience I was still learning to believe I carried.
A decade later, it’s still my favourite. Not just ink on skin—but a mark of survival, growth, and the beauty of becoming.

There’s something special about the first time you listen to ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s.’ It’s not just an audiobook, it’s an immersive experience. Truman Capote’s words paint vivid pictures and Holly Golightly just feels so real. Listening to this classic novella is like time-traveling to a world where charm meets whimsy.
