Stepping into history at the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 today with Braeden. It was amazing to stand in the very building that welcomed so many newcomers to Canada over the decades. The exhibits don’t shy away from the truth—while Canada has been a land of hope for many, we haven’t always been as welcoming as we’d like to believe. The stories of resilience, struggle, and kindness were deeply moving, especially the small acts of generosity that made a world of difference to those arriving in a new land. Grateful for the chance to learn, reflect, and appreciate the courage of those who built new lives here.

We spent the day snug at home, watching the snow fall, then ventured out into the winter wonderland for an evening of incredible food and powerful storytelling.

First stop: all-you-can-eat sushi at Sushi Jet, where we ate our fill of delicious rolls and tempura. Then, we walked through the quiet, snow-covered streets to the Neptune Theatre for Controlled Damage—a moving and deeply engaging performance about Viola Desmond’s life and legacy. An unforgettable night of history, resilience, and art.

Strolled down Spring Garden Rd, browsing The Bookmark for my next great read, stopping in to Cows, and admiring local treasures at Jennifer’s of Nova Scotia.

Braeden then took me for a peaceful walk through the Public Gardens and a historic cemetery, where I visited the graves of Viola Desmond and Alexander Keith.

As the snow raged outside, we stayed cozy with board games, a delicious homemade dinner, and the magical sound of Braeden’s violin. A day to remember! ❤️

Braeden, Brenna, and I had the most beautiful afternoon exploring the paths and tide pools. Cracking the ice in the tide pools and seeing the frozen sea foam were such unique winter surprises! The coastline here is even more majestic than I remembered from when I was little—especially at sunset. 🌅

We wrapped up the evening with a delicious seafood dinner at Shaw’s Landing. My lobster roll? Perfection. 🦞

Peggy’s Cove, you have my heart. ❤️

Today was absolutely amazing at the Halifax Citadel, blanketed in snow and brimming with history. What made it even more special was getting a personal tour from my nephew, who works here in the summer as a historical interpreter. He shared fascinating stories and brought the history of the Citadel to life for us. It was such a treat to spend this time with him and my sister, making memories in such an incredible setting. Truly a day to remember!

So far in 2025, I’ve been diving into a world of audiobooks, letting the narrators transport me to new places, times, and stories. There’s just something magical about the way a good voice brings characters and worlds to life—especially when I’m walking Sadie, running errands, or just relaxing at home.

Audiobooks have this way of making you feel like the story is being told just for you. Whether it’s getting lost in a gripping thriller, exploring new perspectives in nonfiction, or finding comfort in old favorites, every story has added something special to my days.
