So I made an apple pie with frozen pie crust and decided to make a reel about it. I am not very good at making reels… I feel self-conscious talking, singing, dancing, or lip syncing to my phone, so I tend to avoid making them.

But guess what? Instagram has made it so popular to make reels that it is hard to get views if you don’t post them.

Don’t get me wrong – I love watching other people’s reels, but I just do not come off as natural, and my benign essential tremor leads to some very shaky, Blair-Witch-Project-y camera work.

I don’t know how other people find the confidence to do them so much, but I have decided that I will give them a try… when I feel like it.

Because at the end of the day, posting things and creating things is supposed to be fun.

So all that to say – I made a reel, and it is not great but it’s also not terrible. And I had fun (sort of) making a pie.

My creativity has been suffering over the past year and a half. I have been having trouble coming up with anything to say even if I think it’s something that needs to be shared. My personal writing, my blog, here… it’s all been less than what I would like it to be. I care deeply about topics, but my creative voice has been challenging to find.

So, my therapist suggested that I try this – The Artist’s Way – a course to regain my creativity and to rediscover my voice. Here’s hoping that between reading this book and committing to the Morning Pages, I find the ability to write creatively again, because I sincerely miss it.

Happy 17th wedding anniversary, love! 17 years married, 24 years together and I think we are hitting our stride. We have learned that we can do hard things and even more importantly, we can do hard things together. I’m glad that we keep choosing each other every day, even after all these years.

Two high school kids – one who was so excited, he left for school an hour early; the other so unexcited they tried to convince me that home schooling would be a great option. 🤣

This summer I have been taking the time that is usually reserved for my other role as the Mom/Dance Taxi and using it to fill my own cup by attending my favourite evening yoga classes as part of the Daily Slay/100 Days to Slay Collective Challenge. In a couple of weeks, there is a good chance that this time will be back to taxi time, but for now, I am just happy to be taking it for myself.

As someone who struggles with mental health and chronic illness, these classes do no end of good for me, and I am so happy that I have been able to take advantage of summer’s less busy days and evenings.
