Originally intended to simply focus on book reviews, over time, KaliDesautelsReads has morphed into its own entity.
I write about issues that are near to my heart, be they political, feminist, motherhood, mental health, or, as the title holds, books.
A thirty-something Canadian woman in my mid-thirties, I have been “super married” to my high school sweetheart since 2006, and together we have two crazy, clever, kind, hilarious, wonderful kids.
My first book – How Not To Blog: Finding Myself, One Post at a Time is available on Amazon (in eBook formats for you clever tech readers, and paperback for those of us who love that new book smell!)
I have tried a podcast – it’s still on Apple and Google Podcasts – but writing is where my heart is.
My life changed dramatically when my husband was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer in 2018, and I am now a writer for a leading Canadian Cancer Non-Profit.
I am lucky enough to have a family that loves me and pushes me to be my best, even if it is outside of my cushiony comfort zone. I have a village of friends that nourish me, mentally, and spiritually.
Welcome to my thoughts. Sit down. Stay a while. Enjoy a cup of coffee!

Women and ACCEPTANCE
First of all, HAPPY WOMENS DAY to all you wonderful people out there who identify as a woman. Today we celebrate and accept the existence of every heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, queer, cisgender and transgender woman. Today we celebrate and accept gender fluidity and gender nonconformity. Today we celebrate and accept the feminine side of you even if you’re a cis man.
Today we CELEBRATE and ACCEPT women of all shapes, all colours, all abilities and disabilities, all ages, all races and all religions. Let’s celebrate ‘womanhood’ so that harrassment, discrimination and inequality reduces and we all RISE and OWN the space that belongs to us!
Comment and share your views. Repost and spread the word! With this we come to an end of our WoMENtalhealth series but let this be a beginning… Content and Artwork: @richa_3 and @sanj_nanodkar

Women and FRIENDSHIP
Having FRIENDS who get you are the best. No, not the toxic ones. Women understand each other, validate each other, inspire each other and be there for each other. They are the back bone of our support system.
Real friends truly accept you regardless of your flaws. They might show you a mirror but they will still accept you wholely. If their existence makes your life bright, tell them right now.
Tag all your gurrrrrlfriends! Or just your friends! Cuz let’s accept it, they’re good for our mental health.
