Rewatching Breakfast at Tiffany’s with Ollie was special — not just because it’s still one of my all-time favourite films, but because it means something entirely different to me now.
As a teen, I saw glamour and whimsy. As an adult with a bipolar diagnosis, someone who’s weathered her own “mean reds,” I see Holly Golightly differently. Her flightiness, her fear, her longing to reinvent herself — it all feels layered with trauma, survival, and aching vulnerability.
Was she running from a stolen childhood? Was she manic, or deeply depressed? I don’t know, but I do know this: Audrey’s Holly still breaks my heart in the most meaningful way. 💙💎🍸
