Harriet and Wyn are the perfect couple, and members of a tight knit friend group of 3 couples.
Except they aren’t a couple any longer, and they don’t know how to tell the other 2 couples.
Emily Henry’s Happy Place is her newest novel and this year’s perfect beach read, with a series of miscommunications that make rom-coms funny. That being said, this isn’t so much a rom com as a romantic drama. An ensemble story, featuring 6 well-written characters, including Harriet and Wyn – a formerly engaged couple who don’t know how to tell their friends that they aren’t a couple any longer. The story begins when all 3 couples arrive at their annual summer vacation at the beach, and Wyn and Harriet choose to pretend that they are still a couple. And so the miscommunication begins.
While Happy Place is more dramatic than Henry’s other books (The People You Meet On Vacation; Beach Read; Book Lovers), I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it for your TBR pile for this summer.
