So, after coming down a bit from my high of crushing a long term goal this weekend, I was asked – what’s next? And I panicked for a few hours thinking that 10K WAS my big goal!! So today, I am focusing on my next small goals leading up to the next huge, white whale of a dream that I wasn’t sure I would ever see come to fruition. If I could work hard and get to the 10k… maybe it is not such a white whale after all….

I love this quote because I’ve experience its power since starting my @starttodayjournal – one of my phrases is “I am a calm and patient mom.” I chose this goal because I was finding myself going to bed feeling guilty for losing my cool one too many times with our sweet girls. I often feel like they get the “on edge” mom because my calm and patience are used up with students. But writing it down every day has made a huge difference- when I get into those moments of “losing it” (side note: often over things that really aren’t a big deal) I have been hearing the phrase in my mind, which has allowed me to put that goal into practice. Does that mean I’m never blowing up? Heck no. Some days I’m literally saying my phrase out loud to try and simmer my emotions, but that’s life. It’s not about perfection. But working toward being EXCEPTIONAL truly does involve INTENTIONALITY.
